The new charges would apply to savings as well as salary accounts effective from today, leading private sector player HDFC Bank said in a circular. The bank would also cap the third party cash transactions at Rs 25,000 per day, while cash handling charges would be withdrawn effective today, the circular added. In the case of several banks, including ICICI Bank and Axis Bank, these charges came into effect early in January and are same as they were before the demonetisation move announced on November 8, while there is an increase in such fees in case of some others, including HDFC Bank, today onwards. L&T Technology Services lists 7% higher at Rs 920

L&T Technology Services lists 7% higher at Rs 920 Benchmark indices continue to trade in a narrow range with negative bias amid weakness among index heavyweight shares. However, the downside is limited due to buying demand among Reliance Industries and HDFC. At 11:00 am, the S&P   BSE   Sensex slipped 29 points at 28,744 and the Nifty50 dipped 7 points to trade at 8,861. Among broader markets, BSE Midcap and Smallcapindices are up 0.4% each. Top losers from the Sensex pack are Axis Bank, Lupin, ICICI Bank, Tata Motors and Infosys, all down between 1%-4.5%. Axis Bank was down over 4% on speculation of SUUTI stake sale in the bank. On the gaining side, TCS, Reliance Inds, Bajaj Auto, Bharti Airtel and HDFC are up almost 1%. Axis Bank buys 200,000 sq ft of office space in Mumbai

In one of the largest office property deals in this city, Axis Bank recently bought 200,000 sq ft of space at The Ruby office complex in the Dadar West area for Rs 320 crore, said an executive. The deal was in the previous quarter and at Rs 16,000 a sq ft, said the executive. The Ruby Mills developed the property, a one million sq ft commercial project, in partnership with Rohan Lifescapes. Banks want govt to focus on public spending over fiscal deficit road map

Banks and financial institutions pitched for a delay in the fiscal deficit road map and for more focus on greater public spending to ensure economic revival, at a pre-Budget meeting with Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Tuesday.
