Mukesh Ambani announces high-speed broadband, Jio Phone 2 with WhatsApp, FB

At its 41st Annual General Meeting in Mumbai, the company demonstrated the new features on screen, explaining how YouTube, Facebook and WhatsApp on the upgraded Jio Phone 2, which boasts a horizontal screen display, will respond to a customer's voice. Jio Phone 2, priced at Rs 2,999, will hit the market on August 15. Under a monsoon offer, the company said, feature phones can be exchanged for Jio Phones for Rs 501. Reliance Jio users will get data, voice, video free till March 31, says Ambani

Mukesh Ambani, chairman and managing director, Reliance Industries (RIL) said that all   Reliance Jio 's new users will get free voice calls and data from December 4 to 31 March 2017 as part of the company's new year offer. He also said that Jio is the fastest technology in the world. This is his first such appearance outside the company’s annual general meeting. Addressing the company’s stakeholders on Thursday through a live broadcast over the firm’s social media channels, he said, "In the last three months, Reliance Jio has grown faster than Whatsapp, Facebook and Skype". Ambani took this day to congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the 'bold' and 'historic' decision to demonetize old currency. Trai nod to Jio free offer till December 3 The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) on Thursday said   Reliance Jio   can offer its free promotional offer till December 3, also clarifying that tariffs offered by the Mukesh Ambani-led firm were not predatory or discriminatory. This means new customers won’t be able to avail the offer after December 3 and Jio subscribers would have to pay as per the tariffs announced by the company. Customers who have subscribed before December 3 will enjoy benefits till December 31. In its quarterly results, Jio said it might extend the period of free services in case its subscribers were unable to get adequate experience of seamless connectivity across the network because of interconnection congestion and the quality of service parameters are not as per the benchmarks desired by the Jio management. Govt to hike gas price for ONGC, RIL by 60% for undeveloped gas discoveries

In a boost to firms like  ONGC   and Reliance Industries, the government plans to raise natural  gas price   by about 60% for their undeveloped gas discoveries in difficult areas. While domestically-produced gas is currently priced at an average of rates in gas-surplus countries like the US, Canada and Russia, for deep-sea discoveries yet to be developed, the government plans to price them at an average cost of alternative fuels -- naphtha and fuel oil as well as imported LNG. Azim Premji most generous Indian for third year running

Azim Premji, who donated Rs 27,514 crore for education is the “ Most Generous Indian ” for the third year running followed by Nandan Nilekani and Narayana Murthy in the second and third place, respectively. As per the Hurun India Philanthropy List, which is a ranking of the most generous individuals from India, 70 years old Azim Hashim Premji was named as the most generous Indian as he donated Rs 27,514 crore for education.  Read Articles
