Why PM Modi should ignore Subramanian Swamy's letter to sack Raghuram Rajan Subramanian Swamy, BJP’s newly nominated member to the Rajya Sabha, recently said that Reserve Bank of India governor   Raghuram Rajan   should be removed from his post. In a fresh salvo at Rajan, Swamy has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking immediate sacking of the former IMF Chief Economist while alleging he was "mentally not fully Indian" and has "willfully" wrecked the economy. Following up his barb against Rajan at the end of Parliament session last week, Swamy yesterday wrote to Prime Minister seeking termination of Rajan's services with immediate effect. According to Swamy, Rajan has hiked interest rates "in the garb of controlling interest inflation", which has "damaged the country", and that he was responsible for “unemployment and collapse of industrial activity". Congress President   Sonia Gandhi   has hit out against the BJP in the controversy surrounding the Rs 3600 cr VVIP chopper deal. Calling the allegations against her attributed to an order by an Italian court as false, Sonia Gandhi said that she has nothing to hide. "I am not afraid as there is no base. All the allegation are false. This government is there from last two years, why is the government not completing enquiry.... Complete inquiry impartially, truth will come out," said Sonia Gandhi as proceedings in Rajya Sabha came to a standstill. National Herald case: Naturally, I will appear in court tomorrow, says Sonia Gandhi

Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Friday confirmed that she will appear in court tomorrow in connection with the hearing of the   National Herald case . Replying to media, she said, “Naturally”. The National Herald newspaper was closely associated with India’s freedom struggle and the Indian National Congress till 2008. In January 2008, discussions about its closure began. On 1 April 2008, the paper’s editorial announced that it was temporarily suspending operations. Before its closure, the paper was being run by Associated Journals Limited (AJL). BJP leader Subramanian Swamy filed the case in a local court in 2012. The trial court then issued summons to the two leaders of the Congress amongst others in June 2014, but they approached the Delhi High Court seeking a stay. On Monday this week, the high court refused to stay the summons, and asked all of the accused to appear for a hearing on December 19th.
