Infosys unveils modular e-commerce platform Software major   Infosys   Ltd on Wednesday unveiled a mobile first and modular platform to drive e-commerce programmes across retail channels. The platform has been developed by Skava, a Silicon Valley-based   e-commerce   start-up that the IT major acquired in June 2015 for $120 million, to enable businesses leverage cloud-based micro-services and white label applications to launch new offerings and improve conversion rates of digital channels. "The platform can integrate into present technologies, while providing a future-ready architecture for next-generation shopping experiences leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, natural language processing and virtual reality (VR)," the IT major said. Bengaluru pips Tokyo, Tel Aviv in list of innovation hubs India has emerged as a new innovation ‘empire’ of choice by global corporates. Bengaluru - the information technology and start-up hub – has surpassed many global cities as a preferred destination for innovation centres, according to Capgemini’s study on ‘Innovation Empire’. Bengaluru that has emerged as the fifth most preferred location for housing innovation centres, overtook Tokyo, Shanghai, Berlin,  Tel Aviv , Munich and Chicago, said the report titled ‘Digital Dynasties: The Rise of Innovation Empires Worldwide’. Here's what to watch out for in TCS' Q4 earnings

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India’s largest IT services provider’s fourth quarter numbers for the FY2016 will be one of the most awaited event today for two reasons. The company’s share price was trending at Rs 2,469.45 per share, down by 2.13% as the markets opened. The first will be for the performance of the company, especially after its competitor Bengaluru-based Infosys has reported a stellar performance, but more importantly, the Street and analysts will want to hear the management on the $940 million notice fine on the company by a Federal Jury in the US. Based on the comment made by management in the last few months, this quarter could well be bottoming out quarter in terms of performance. The company has been missing expectations for the last six quarters, owing to softness in telecom, oil and gas and its insurance platform Diligenta. Budget 2016: IT Ministry seeks 271% increase in planned outlay

The department of  electronics  and information  technology  has sought a 271 per cent increase in the planned  Budget  outlay for 2016-17, at Rs 9,531 crore. For 2015-16, the planned outlay for the department was Rs 2,568 crore and the revised estimate stood at Rs 2,700 crore. Wipro meets Q3 estimates, profit up 2%

IT services major, Wipro, reported a 2% rise in profits to Rs 2,243 crore for the third quarter, while revenue grew 7.23% to Rs 12,860 crore. Wipro, the third largest IT services firm, showed IT services revenue grew sequentially or over the previous quarter by 0.3% to $1.84 billion, meeting its forecast and analyst expectations. Operating margins, calculated as sales minus costs, stood at 20.2%, which was impacted marginally due to spending on backup plans during the Chennai floods. The company had reported profits of Rs 2,203 crore on revenues of Rs 11,992 crore in the October to December quarter in 2014.  Read Articles  

Infosys employee allegedly raped on Pune campus; two arrested

A woman employee of Infosys was allegedly raped on the IT giant’s Pune campus on December 27, media reports said Tuesday. The woman was allegedly raped by a housekeeping staff member in  Infosys ’ Phase-I campus in Pune The incident apparently took place during the night shift. Two men have been arrested in connection with the case; media reports said they were possibly workers at the company canteen.  “With regard to the alleged incident at our Pune campus involving our partners’ contractual staff, we are investigating the matter and are working closely with the police to aid their investigation. We have stringent security measures in place on all our campuses and have a zero tolerance policy against sexual harassment, which extends to our contractual staff as well. The company will take necessary action as per policy,” Infosys said in a statement.
