There are fair chances of rains on Monday night or early Tuesday: IMD The national capital on Sunday sizzled at 39.4 degree Celsius, two notches above the season's average, but respite is likely on Monday, when   Eid Mubarak   falls this year, would see light rains, said the weather department. Beside, thundery conditions on Sunday night would abate the weather situation and bring down the mercury to 35-36 degrees. "Sunday was humid but Monday, the day of Eid, would be calm and weather would be pleasant throughout the day. Rains are most likely towards night, followed by early morning," an IMD official said. The minimum temperature on Sunday was 30 degrees, two notches above the season's average, while the humidity oscillated between 40 to 80 per cent. Pathankot attack: Operation enters third day, more forces rushed to air base

The operation against militants holed up at  Pathankot  air base entered the third day today after explosions and firing continued intermittently overnight. Security forces had yesterday killed one of the at least two terrorists on the second day of the attack in which seven security personnel lost their lives including a Lieutenant Colonel of the NSG. Four terrorists were eliminated on Saturday when they had struck at the air base. Strong 6.8 earthquake hits India's northeastern region, 5 dead

At least two people were killed and over 30 injured as a powerful  earthquake measuring 6.8  on the Richter Scale rocked Manipur and other north eastern states early today. “Public and private properties have been damaged. The district administration is on the job to rescue trapped persons,” Inspector General of Police Clay Khongsai said. Khongsai said they were yet to receive any report from Tamenglong district. Meanwhile, social network giant Facebook has activated its ‘Mark As Safe’ feature that allows people in the affected area to mark themselves as out of any danger on the social media platform.  According to the regional seismological centre in Meghalaya, an earthquake of moderate intensity rocked India’s northeastern states and adjoining Myanmar, Bangladesh and Bhutan Monday morning.
