Apple aims to expand in Southeast Asia, partners with Foxconn

Breaking News   - In an effort to expand its market to Southeast Asia, technology giant   Apple   has partnered with Taiwanese electronics major Foxconn, media reports said. According to a report on DigiTimes on Monday that cited a Chinese-language Economic Daily News report, Apple is expected to begin constructing two new Research and Development centres in Asia in 2017 located in Indonesia and Shenzhen, China. Foxconn has already been working with local Indonesian brand vendors Luna and Huawei for few years. It is believed that Indonesia will witness a rise in demand for 4G smartphones in 2017 as the government will push policies to encourage citizens to upgrade from 2G to 4G services.( Read More )

Airtel unveils fresh packs to counter Jio heat Days after Reliance Jio extended its free services, mobile operator Bharti   Airtel   today came out with two prepaid offerings, including a Rs 145 pack, that will offer free unlimited local/STD calls along with 4G data. While Airtel's Rs 145 pack offers 300 MB 4G data along with free unlimited Airtel-to-Airtel local/STD calls, its Rs 345 pack offers unlimited free local/STD calls to any network in India and 1GB 4G data. Both packs have a validity of 28 days and are available for customers across the country. Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Jio -- which garnered 52 million customer base in the first three months of 4G launch -- recently announced extension of free domestic voice calls and data till March 31, 2017. Even after March, the company would offer free calls for life to its 4G customers. Amazon takes 30,000 sq ft on lease in Mumbai for corporate HQ

US e-commerce giant Amazon’s office leasing spree is likely to continue in 2016, too. In one of the most high-profile deals in the Mumbai office market, Amazon has taken 30,000 square feet of office space for its corporate headquarters at One BKC building in Bandra Kurla Complex area of Mumbai on lease, a source familiar with the development said. Amazon will pay monthly rent of Rs 265 a sq ft, entailing Rs 9.5 crore a year.  Read Articles 

Sensex slumps over 500 points as China rattles global stocks

Benchmark shares  indices crashed over 2%, amid a sell-off in Asia and Europe, after suspension of trading in Chinese shares post the sharp plunge in Shanghai Composite. Further, geopolitical tensions in the Middle-East also dampened sentiment. The S&P BSE Sensex tumbled 534 points to close at 25,627 and the Nifty50 plunged 171 points to end at 7,793. In the broader markets, BSE Mid-cap and Small-cap indices cracked 1% each. Market breadth finished remain weak with 1,284 gainers and 1,598 losers on the BSE. “China's PMI continues to underline its downward growth trajectory with equity markets reflecting a sub-7% GDP figure for calendar 2016 and beyond. For Google, India to become bigger market than US by next year: Pichai

Google CEO Sundar Pichai  has said he believes India will become a bigger market for the company than the United States sometime in the middle of 2016. In an interaction with half a dozen journalists in New Delhi on Wednesday, Pichai said it was not just with regard to the use of Android-based phone devices that India would scale ahead of the US; there also were many areas of technological development where India will become its first market for experimentation and trial before launch in other markets of the world. “We developed the offline version of YouTube in India, tried it here and are now taking that to other countries,” Pichai said in what was his first media address after taking over as Google CEO in August this year.
