Netflix to stream in almost all countries, skips China


Video streaming company Netflix Inc (NFLX.O) on Wednesday launched its services in 130 countries, covering almost the entire globe except China, as part of efforts to counter slowing growth in the United States.

Shares of the company, whose popular shows include “House of Cards”, “Orange Is The New Black” and “Narcos”, rose 5.5 percent to $113.60 in afternoon trading.

India, Nigeria, Russia and Saudi Arabia were among the major countries where the service was launched, Chief Executive Reed Hastings said at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.Read More

The Congress, CPI(M), and the AAP have sought an inquiry into allegations against Jay Shah   A political storm hit the Narendra Modi-led government and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after a news website reported that a company run by party chief  Amit Shah's son , Jay Amit Shah, recorded a 16,000-times increase in turnover in only a year after Modi became the Prime Minister and the senior Shah the party president. NSG to take up Pakistan, India's membership requests this week The Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) 2016 annual plenary, which begins in   Seoul   on Monday, will take up membership requests from both   India   and   Pakistan   on June 23-24. According to   Dawn , Pakistan submitted its membership application on May 19, a week after India, which applied on May 12. With massive global support, India stands as a favourite to join the 48-nation group, with an active support from the United States, Russia, Britain, France and other world powers. China, however, stands as an obstacle to India's application, arguing that it would enhance a nuclear competition in South   Asia   by isolating Pakistan.
