Eicher CEO downplays Bajaj claims, says not easy to unseat Royal Enfield

Enfield enjoys almost the entire 250-350 cc motorcycle market in country Royal Enfield, well known for its bullets, said it is not going to be easy for any new entrant to unseat the company. Bajaj Auto, which entered the 350-500cc motorcycle segment in December, claimed to have overtaken   Royal Enfield   in February in volumes. “If you look at the 250 cc plus motorcycle market in India, every 19 of 20 products are sold by us…that is a reality. It is not that easy to unseat someone who is doing this,” Siddhartha Lal, managing director and chief executive officer of Eicher (which owns Enfield) told   Business Standard . Bajaj Auto pips TVS Motors, regains no.3 spot after 2 years

After a two-year gap, Pune-based two- and three-wheeler maker   Bajaj Auto has regained its third rank, in terms of number of units sold, displacing Chennai-based TVS Motor. Powered by new model launches such as Avenger and V15 (promoted by INS Vikrant), Bajaj Auto clocked two-wheeler sales of 200,433 units in domestic sales against 197,692 units sold by TVS Motor — which sells motorcycles, scooters and mopeds — in April 2016, according to the sales figures disclosed by the two companies. May 2014 was the last time when Bajaj Auto had held its lead at 176,277 units against   TVS Motors   174,219 units before finally being over taken by TVS in June 2014. Bajaj Auto, the makers of performance bikes under the Pulsar brand, had to increase production after two successive launch hits. Models such as the Avenger (three variants) and V15 have provided incremental sales of nearly 50,000 units a month, pushing Bajaj’s domestic sales to beyond 200,000 units f...

Dividends deluge to keep taxman at bay

In the three days since the Union Budget, at least 70 companies have called board meetings to declare interim dividends — in a bid to get the money to the shareholders before the tax on promoters’ dividends kicks in on April 1. Bajaj Auto unveils new bike made from warship metal

Bajaj Auto, India’s second biggest motorcycle manufacturer, on Monday unveiled V15, a new motorcycle partially built using metal from INS Vikrant, India’s first aircraft carrier. Besides being a new product, this is a completely new brand by the Pune-based company, which has signalled a departure from its earlier ‘two brand only strategy’ that was made up of Pulsar and Discover. Despite having a new 150cc engine, Bajaj will position the V15 as a commuter motorcycle rather than a sport-oriented bike targeted at the youth.  Read Articles  

Bajaj Auto to launch bike from metal used in INS Vikrant

Indian naval ship (INS) Vikrant, the first aircraft carrier, which played a pivotal role in the 1971 Indo-Pak war, has made its way into a commuter bike to be launched by Bajaj Auto next month. The Pune-based, India’s most valued two- and three-wheeler maker, will launch a 150-cc motorcycle on February 1 christened ‘V’ which is built from metal used in the country’s most celebrated aircraft carrier. This will be the eight product by Bajaj Auto this financial year and the first in 2016. ‘V’ is a new brand by the company complementing five of its predecessors in production. This new bike, which has a slight retro look as seen in the sneak preview aired today by Bajaj, is expected to be positioned between the Pulsar and Discover.
