David Headley deposition: Ishrat Jahan was LeT operative

Making fresh disclosures on the brazen 26/11 attacks, Pakistani-American terrorist David Coleman Headley today said that Ishrat Jahan, a 19-year-old student who was killed in  an alleged 'fake encounter' in Gujarat in 2004, was affiliated to the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). Deposing before the court, Headley claimed that the mastermind of the 2008  Mumbai  attack, Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi told him about a botched up operation of Muzammil in India. LeT planned to attack defence scientists at Taj Hotel: David Headley

Testifying before a special Mumbai court for the second day today,  Pakistani-American terrorist David Coleman Headley said LeT had planned to attack Indian defence scientists at the Taj Mahal Hotel and that he was asked by Pakistan’s ISI to recruit Indian army men to spy for them. He also said that the LeT group as a whole was responsible for the terror attacks in India, and it can be speculated that all orders came from its top commander Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi. Continuing to spill the beans, Headley said, “I met Major Iqbal of ISI in Lahore in early 2006. He asked me to gather military intelligence from India and also try to recruit someone from the Indian military to spy. LeT made 2 attempts before 26/11 terror attacks: David Headley

In what is likely to be a shock to Indian intelligence agencies,  David Headley today told a Mumbai special court  that the Lashkar-e-Taiba made two unsuccessful attempts to attack Mumbai. The first, he revealed, was in September 2008; it failed after the boat hit some rocks and all the weapons and explosives were lost, even though the terrorists survived, said Headley, who has turned approver in the case, given his role in the Mumbai terror attacks of November 2008.  Read Full Article Over Here :  Business Standard News
