Asthana placing selective facts, misleading court: CBI Addl SP to Delhi HC

Gurm, who was transferred along with other CBI officials has sought to be made a party in the petition filed by Asthana   CBI Additional SP S S Gurm alleged in the Delhi High Court on Wednesday that Special Director  Rakesh Asthana  , who has filed a petition seeking the quashing of an FIR against him in a bribery case, was misleading the court by placing "selective" facts before it. Gurm, who was transferred along with other CBI officials in the feud between CBI Director  Alok Verma  and Asthana, has sought to be made a party in the petition filed by Asthana. The officer, who was transferred from Delhi to Jabalpur, has sought an opportunity to be heard in the case. In an application before the high court, the additional SP claimed he has "reasonable" apprehension that CBI is seeking to protect and support Asthana and may not effectively contest the petition. Honeypreet said she had slipped into depression after Ram Rahim's conviction After a month-long search for jailed Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim's "adopted" daughter  Honeypreet  Insan, Haryana Police on Tuesday arrested her. Honeypreet, along with another woman, was arrested by the Haryana Police from the Zirakpur-Patiala road in Punjab, said Panchkula Police Commissioner A S Chawla. Honeypreet tops the list of 43 people 'wanted' by the Haryana Police in connection with the incidents of violence that left 41 people dead and several injured following Gurmeet Ram Rahim's conviction in rape cases. Consider limiting odd-even formula for a week: HC tells Delhi govt

The  Delhi High Court   on Wednesday asked the Aam Aadmi Party government whether it can limit plying of even and odd numbered vehicles in Delhi on alternative dates for “a week” instead of the planned 15 days. A division bench of Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice Jayant Nath asked the government to produce the data on air pollution it has collected in a week during implementation of the odd-even scheme in national capital. “Is it really necessary to have it for two weeks? Can’t it be confined to eight days? Can you end it on Friday? People are facing inconvenience. Take instructions,” the bench asked the government posting the matter for Friday.  Read More

National Herald case: Naturally, I will appear in court tomorrow, says Sonia Gandhi

Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Friday confirmed that she will appear in court tomorrow in connection with the hearing of the   National Herald case . Replying to media, she said, “Naturally”. The National Herald newspaper was closely associated with India’s freedom struggle and the Indian National Congress till 2008. In January 2008, discussions about its closure began. On 1 April 2008, the paper’s editorial announced that it was temporarily suspending operations. Before its closure, the paper was being run by Associated Journals Limited (AJL). BJP leader Subramanian Swamy filed the case in a local court in 2012. The trial court then issued summons to the two leaders of the Congress amongst others in June 2014, but they approached the Delhi High Court seeking a stay. On Monday this week, the high court refused to stay the summons, and asked all of the accused to appear for a hearing on December 19th.
