  Make in India, PM likely to tell Apple's Tim Cook Manufacturing in India is going to be the top talking point when Apple Chief Executive Officer (CEO)   Tim Cook   meets Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, it is learnt. There may not be any announcement just yet, but a source in the government confirmed that the PM is likely to tell Cook that India would want Apple to manufacture in India. The discussion between the two may also revolve around the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government's stand that Apple cannot just import and sell refurbished iPhones in India without setting up a manufacturing facility in the country. The government is also expected to convey to Cook a decision that it has taken on waiving the local sourcing conditions for Apple so that it can open its fully-owned branded retail stores in the country. Tim Cook likely to open Apple's Hyderabad tech centre on Thursday   At a time when there was a heightened discussion going on about Apple Computer Inc.'s possible manufacturing plans for India, its chief executive officer Tim Cook   is likely to arrive in Hyderabad on Thursday to open Apple's first technology development centre outside the USA. Apple management's decision to first look for leveraging the human resources in India for its new software offerings came to light last year with news reports suggesting that the iPhone maker was examining various cities in India for a possible location for its tech center. After pitching hard for this facility, Telangana government gave first hints earlier this year indicating that Apple management had in fact zeroed in on Hyderabad for establishing the facility. Microsoft will participate in Indian startup growth story: Nadella

Microsoft Corporation will participate in the development of accelerator programmes dedicated to support the Indian startup ecosystem, the software giant’s chief executive officer Satya Nadella said on Monday. Nadella, who was on a four-day personal visit to his home town Hyderabad to attend a family function, today visited T-Hub, an incubation facility developed by the Telangana government in public-private partnership to support technology-enabled startups. “ Microsoft  is keen to work with T-Hub to develop accelerators and startups,” he told Telangana state IT and panchayat raj minister KT Rama Rao, who took him around the 70,000-sft ‘Catalyst’ incubation facility created on the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT)-Hyderabad campus.
