Maharashtra bandh: Security beefed up, schools and colleges remain open

All departments and affiliated colleges of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad will remain closed today Security has been beefed up in Maharashtra as Sakal Maratha Samaj, an umbrella body of Maratha groups has called for a state-wide bandh on Thursday over reservation issue. Addressing the media, a leader of the Sakal Maratha Samaj, Amol Jadhavrao said that the state-wide bandh would be observed in a peaceful manner from 8 am to 6 pm. However, the bandh will not be observed in the Navi Mumbai. "We have called for a state-wide bandh on August 9. The bandh will not be observed in Navi Mumbai, due to some sensitive issue. Essential services, schools and colleges have been excluded from the bandh called by us," Jadhavrao said. He also urged the community members to not commit suicide over the issue and maintain their calm. Monsoon will hit the national capital anytime between June 29 and July 1, with pre-monsoon activities expected to begin this week, according to IMD Heavy rains, which lashed Mumbai on Sunday night and continue in several parts of the city, have led to waterlogging in several low-lying areas. The rains also adversely affected road and rail traffic in Mumbai, with local trains running late by up 15-20 minutes on Monday morning. Neighbouring Gujarat also witnessed heavy rainfall on Sunday. PVR partners Rajinikanth's Kabali, first multiplex to tap regional film Pan-India multiplex chain   PVR   has joined the bevy of brands,   companies   associating with south Indian superstar Rajnikanth’s latest movie ‘Kabali’. The cinema exhibition chain is the official multiplex partner for the film set to release on July 22 acorss the country. This is the first time in the South Indian film industry, that such an association between an exhibition chain and a film has been made. Producers file plaint with cops Producers of drug-themed drama " Udta Punjab ", slated for Friday release, today lodged a complaint with cyber police alleging that the film was  leaked online . In their compliant lodged with the cyber crime police in Bandra, they stated the film was uploaded before its release by some unidentified persons. RJio upbeat on trial run, launches website As  Reliance Jio  gears towards upgrading its ongoing trial run of the fourth-generation technology (4G) network into a commercial operation over the next few months, it says it already has at least half a million users. In an investor presentation, the company said, it \"launched full scale service for RIL group employees, partners, vendors and associates on December 28 and over 500,000 users are on board\". The launch is now being expanded to others, it said. Last month, it began a Reliance Jio employee referral program for its 4G service; each staffer could invite up to 10 friends to sign up. Initial feedback on the trial run was \"very encouraging\", it said. In the first month of the trial, average monthly data consumption was 18 GB and average monthly voice usage was a bit over 250 minutes, according to a presentation dated last Thursday.
