From today, Reliance Jio's 'Monsoon Hungama' to offer Rs 501 JioPhone

The offer will begin at 5.01 PM on Friday, the timing that reflects the Rs 501 price tag of the JioPhone Mukesh Ambani-led  Reliance Jio  has advanced by a day to July 20 the launch of its monsoon 'hungama' scheme that would offer its JioPhone to customers for Rs 501, a company source said. Earlier, in the annual general meeting of Reliance Industries, Ambani had announced that the scheme will begin from July 21. The offer will begin at 5.01 PM on Friday, the timing that reflects the Rs 501 price tag of the JioPhone. The registration for new JioPhone is already live on the official website of Relaince Jio. "Jio will start monsoon hungama scheme from 5.01 pm on July 20. Even the timing has been kept to reflect effective price of the phone," the source told PTI. Now, with the expiry approaching, it is expected that Jio would make a new announcement sometime soon Reliance Jio shook the Indian telecommunication space with the launch of its affordable, data-centric network. Airtel unveils fresh packs to counter Jio heat Days after Reliance Jio extended its free services, mobile operator Bharti   Airtel   today came out with two prepaid offerings, including a Rs 145 pack, that will offer free unlimited local/STD calls along with 4G data. While Airtel's Rs 145 pack offers 300 MB 4G data along with free unlimited Airtel-to-Airtel local/STD calls, its Rs 345 pack offers unlimited free local/STD calls to any network in India and 1GB 4G data. Both packs have a validity of 28 days and are available for customers across the country. Mukesh Ambani, chairman and managing director, Reliance Industries (RIL) said that all   Reliance Jio 's new users will get free voice calls and data from December 4 to 31 March 2017 as part of the company's new year offer. He also said that Jio is the fastest technology in the world. This is his first such appearance outside the company’s annual general meeting. Trai nod to Jio free offer till December 3 The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) on Thursday said   Reliance Jio   can offer its free promotional offer till December 3, also clarifying that tariffs offered by the Mukesh Ambani-led firm were not predatory or discriminatory. This means new customers won’t be able to avail the offer after December 3 and Jio subscribers would have to pay as per the tariffs announced by the company. Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) chairman   Mukesh Ambani   announced at the 42nd AGM that Jio will be launched on September 5, offering customers free domestic voice calls and zero roaming charges. RJio is choking our networks: telcos The war that had so far been brewing silently between incumbent telecom operators and  Reliance Jio   has come out in the open. Industry body Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) fired a salvo at Jio on Monday by writing to Telecom Secretary J S Deepak alleging that Jio was masquerading full-blown services in the guise of a trial, which they said amounted to predatory pricing. The COAI's letter was a response to one sent by Jio to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) claiming that incumbents were not providing enough interconnect bandwidth. In response, the incumbents have alleged that the burgeoning voice traffic emanating from  RJio   is choking their networks, given that 1.5 million subscribers of Jio are calling people who are on the networks of other leading telcos. RJio upbeat on trial run, launches website As  Reliance Jio  gears towards upgrading its ongoing trial run of the fourth-generation technology (4G) network into a commercial operation over the next few months, it says it already has at least half a million users. In an investor presentation, the company said, it \"launched full scale service for RIL group employees, partners, vendors and associates on December 28 and over 500,000 users are on board\". The launch is now being expanded to others, it said. Last month, it began a Reliance Jio employee referral program for its 4G service; each staffer could invite up to 10 friends to sign up. Initial feedback on the trial run was \"very encouraging\", it said.
