Fire at Times of India building in Delhi A fire broke out at the   Fire At Times of India   building in central Delhi's ITO area on Wednesday, and 21 fire tenders were sent to douse the flames, fire officials said. The fire broke out on the fourth floor of the building, situated near the Income Tax Office, at around 2.20 p.m., a fire official told IANS. Delhi Fire Services director G.C. Mishra told IANS, "It is a medium category fire. Keeping in view the safety of the number of buildings in the area we have sent 21 fire tenders to the spot to douse the flames." The building has been evacuated and no one was injured in the incident, said a fire officer. The reason for the fire is not known. Fire officials said they initially sent six fire tenders when they were informed about smoke emanating from the building. Later, more fire tenders were pressed into service as it turned out to be a big blaze.

Delhi's Tina Dabi tops 2015 UPSC exams in first attempt

Citing less number of working women in Haryana, Civil Services exam topper Tina Dabi   today said she wants to work in the neighbouring state to contribute in empowerment of fairer sex there. "I always wanted to work in a challenging state. That is why I chose Haryana. We all know the sex ratio of girl and boy child is quiet less and that is why I would like to contribute my efforts for the empowerment of women there," she said. 22-year-old Tina, who has graduated from Lady Shri Ram College here, topped the 2015 Civil Services exam in her first attempt. "My mother is my role model. She wanted me to study political science. I chose it and got through in the examination. It was one of my main subjects," she said, crediting her mother, a former Indian Engineering Service (IES) officer, who took voluntary retirement from the job. Yadav allegedly shot dead Aditya Sachdeva, a teenager on Saturday night for overtaking his car The son of a ruling JD(U) MLC in   Bihar   was arrested in the early hours today on charge of killing a youth in a road rage incident at Gaya after remaining on the run for two days, a senior police officer said. Rocky Yadav was arrested at around 3 a.m from Bodh Gaya police station area, Senior Superintendent of Police Garima Mallik said. The JD(U) MLC, Manorama Devi, whom the police had taken to Bela police station last night after questioning her regarding the whereabouts of her son, is with arrested Yadav at Bela police station. The SSP will hold a press conference later to give details of the police action. Police claimed that the pistol used in the killing of Aditya Sachdeva has also been recovered from the accused. IRCTC's PRO says website not hacked, probe on The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) on Thursday denied reports that its website had been hacked. "IRCTC website was not   hacked   and is functioning properly," Sandip Dutta, IRCTC public relations officer, told IANS. "Passengers are able to book tickets through the website." The denial by the IRCTC came following some reports in the media that a large volume of data had been stolen from the state-owned firm's website. According to sources, the matter came to light when the Cyber Cell of the Mumbai police informed IRCTC that a large volume of data from its website was stolen. "We asked the Cyber Cell to provide us with the data, that they claim belongs from our website. Once we have the data, proper verification would be conducted," Dutta said. After yet another suicide, Kota DC writes to parents not to force expectations on children

Moved by the tragic case of a 17-year- old   IIT   aspirant who committed suicide a day after clearing her exam, the Kota district collector has written an emotional letter to parents of over 1.50 lakh students in coaching institutes, asking them not to force their expectations on the children. The five-page letter by Collector Ravi Kumar Surpur has been dispatched to the coaching institutes in the city and will be forwarded to the parents after translation into Hindi and other regional languages. Referring to suicides by young students, the district collector wrote that for all of them death was a much peaceful and effortless action than going through the dilemma of artificially doing what their parents wanted them to do. "Your solacing words of comfort, asking them to give their best and forget the results could have been the blade of grass" that would have saved precious lives, he wrote, adding, instead, what they got were threats to perform even better. ...
