Bharti Airtel sells Burkina Faso, Sierra Leone biz to Orange


French telecom major Orange has acquired Bharti Airtel’s operations in Burkina Faso and Sierra Leone. The dealwas in the making since July last year when the French company was reported to take over operations of Bharti’s operations in a few African countries.

According to a company statement, Orange will acquire 100% stake in the two companies’ share capital. The size of the deal was not announced. The consolidated revenue of the two companies is around 275 million euros, Bharti Airtel said in a statement. Read Articles

The Congress, CPI(M), and the AAP have sought an inquiry into allegations against Jay Shah   A political storm hit the Narendra Modi-led government and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after a news website reported that a company run by party chief  Amit Shah's son , Jay Amit Shah, recorded a 16,000-times increase in turnover in only a year after Modi became the Prime Minister and the senior Shah the party president. NSG to take up Pakistan, India's membership requests this week The Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) 2016 annual plenary, which begins in   Seoul   on Monday, will take up membership requests from both   India   and   Pakistan   on June 23-24. According to   Dawn , Pakistan submitted its membership application on May 19, a week after India, which applied on May 12. With massive global support, India stands as a favourite to join the 48-nation group, with an active support from the United States, Russia, Britain, France and other world powers.
